I have been passionate about artwork and design for most of my life.

I started playing around with film cameras at a young age. As I got older it was also a constant part of my life so the transition into doing it for a living was a gradual process.

Photography was also a great way for me to connect with people when I was younger.

I am a pretty laid back person socially and photography in some ways forced me to be more outgoing in some situations. I also love being able to capture people in motion, capture parts of their lives, doing what they love or creating some dramatic / interesting / funky portrait.

When I was a teenager I loved to work with color pencils and create abstract drawings.

It was so interesting, a lot of times you could see how it was an unconscious stepping into the sub conscious. Working on a drawing there was a letting go process and going with what “felt” right. Once it was completed you could look back at the drawing and see that it is exactly how you feel or whats going on even if you were unaware of it.

I loved it. I also loved creating dynamic 2-D symbols.

I think symbols can be more powerful or effective then words.

For example no matter what country your in symbols for no smoking or restrooms are universal. Plus the American language can be very limited sometimes. Did you know that some cultures (I think Hawaiian or Polynesian) have like 10-15 words for love.

Love of an object, lustful love, love for a friend etc. I also find the word friend to be that way too. Its used to describe everything from an acquaintance to a best friend.

Anyway my point is that symbols can tell stories and cut to the heart of the matter better then words.

I imagine that’s where I picked up my fascination obsession with design.

Why am I an artist? I can think of nothing else I would rather do then to create and inspire / move people with my photography & artwork. Sometimes its like a wild animal that needs to come out in some way or another, so I choose to channel it creatively. Other times it can be a deep burning desire to connect with others intimately. Taking down the walls & exposing the raw core essence.
